Latvian Speaking Club 🗣️

You have prior knowledge in Latvian and you need to practice it? Latvian conversation club will be perfect for you. Our team will guide you, and you will receive materials with vocabulary before each lesson. During that lesson you will speak about this particular topic. Informal atmosphere, lots of fun and laughter. :)

Only small groups up to six people.

Lessons: Once a week (90 minutes)

Duration: Three months (12 lessons)

Conversation clubs are not lectures and do not replace courses. They are designed to support your learning, giving you a chance to speak and practice more.

Important:
At the beginning of each month, you will receive an invoice for the current month. If you are unable to attend a lesson, you will receive the recording. No refunds are made for lessons that are not attended. The group studies if there are at least four students in it.

Baiba will be your teacher in the speaking club. This is what Baiba says about herself:

"Language is my means of getting to know and expressing myself. The first was obviously my native language - Latvian. I think, speak, write in it; I live it, and I feel it deeply.

Another means I have for understanding the world better is a very logical and systematic approach to things.

Both of them together led me to advanced linguistic studies and a PhD in philology. I am a co-author of one of the chapters of Latviešu valodas gramatika (Grammar of the Latvian Language, 2013), and I have worked as a lecturer at the University of Latvia, as well as a proofreader and copyeditor.

The third resource I have is a deeply rooted belief that the world needs more understanding, acceptance, respect, and empathy. This, in turn, has led me to the work of a parent emotional support practitioner (in Latvian we say PEP mamma, where PEP stands for first emotional help).

And now, all of these things have come together so beautifully and naturally in my next step - supporting people who are learning Latvian as a foreign language. I will share my sense of language and my knowledge of the language system, and create a safe space for you to practice and be understood."
